Christmas Season Reflection

This weekend marks the end of the Christmas season. On the old calendar, the Christmas season would actually continue until February 2, which we celebrate today as the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, or “Candlemas.”

I want to take the space in this week’s column to thank all of our liturgical and musical volunteers. This Christmas was difficult because of how the solemnity fell on a Monday. This meant that many of our volunteers were at the parish Saturday through Monday… or the days that were most typically reserved for family.

If you haven’t already done so, please consider stepping up and volunteering at the parish. There is no shortage of pathways to give back.

We are in need of ushers, lectors, Extraordinary Ministers, and choristers. Aside from choir, all of these volunteer roles can be completed when you would normally be here for Mass. Much of the same can be said for choir; however, we do have almost weekly practices for about an hour or so.
